Going digital

Google started it, now Microsoft teams up with Yahoo to follow suit. I think this is a revolutionary idea.

The Internet provided the platform to connect the already existing digital repositories and made them available to everyone. Web 2.0 brought in a new era of collaboration and online publishing. This effort goes a step further by opening up content locked in zillions of books around the world. I say this is huge.

Speak With Me

For those who think they have a relationship with their cars, here's some bad news .. now you may have to have real conversations with your car! TechCrunch has this interesting review of a product by a company called Speak With Me, that lets you control your car via speech. For the demo, Ajay controlled his stereo system verbally, changing songs, picking tracks, controlling volume, etc. The commands he used to do this were in absolutely plain English and varied considerably in structure. For instance, Ajay at one time said “go to track 3″. Another time he said “play for me another one bites the dust”. Later, “I would like to hear wonderful tonight by eric clapton. “louder”. “quieter”.

Let's get started ...

Ok so I have finally decided to open source my ramblings and create a public blog. In the pages that will follow, I hope to capture, on a regular enough basis, the latest buzz in the world of technology .. served with ample portions of my own thoughts and ideas on why we don't already have flying cars and other such things.

I actually made the decision to do this a week or so back. Spent the last week experimenting with blog sites, both paid and free, and finally decided to get my own hosted space. The choice of my name as the domain name, though utterly immodest, was driven by my need to also use this site for my photo albums and wikis besides other blogs.

So much to do, so little time. Let's get started.
